Châteaux de Chateaugiron - standing in the heart of Chateaugiron, a small town of special cultural interest, this château presents the two-fold image of the stronghold with imposing towers and the less austere 18th century country château. Also includes tour of the Gourdel museum (sculpture). Fort La Latte built in the middle of the 14th century by the Goyon-Matignon family, the chateau was first called Roche Goyon. It has undergone two major sieges - the first in 1379, the second, which seriously damaged it, in 1597. An excellent example of medieval architecture it was transformed under Louis XIV into a coastal defence fort for St.Malo, when its high walls were made into cannon batteries. The pink sandstone watchtower protected St.Malo's ships from their enemies - the English and the Dutch. Its military career continued into the 19th century. It was declassified in 1890, sold by the estate in 1892, listed as a historic monument in 1925 and is now open to visitors. Abbaye Maritime de Beauport-Paimpol - set in a uniquely rich location between woodland and sea in a sheltered cove on Paimpol boy overlooking the island of Bréhat, Beauport Abbey was classed as a historic monument in 1862 through the efforts of the writer Prosper Mérimée. Since 1993, the whole of this exceptional maritime site has belonged to the coastal conservation body, the Conservatoire du Littoral, which has taken up the challenge of restoring it. Throughout the summer, the monument and its restored gardens are romantically and poetically illuminated recreating for visitors in the course of a walk the imagined world of Beauport over a period of 8 centuries. These "Esca les de nuit" night-time tours, have gained first prize in the European illumination awards. An exhibition on the subject of sailors' graffiti is a reminder that the Abbey built sea walls and a harbour, welcomed English pilgrims on their way to Compostella and witnessed the passing through of ships on the great fishing expeditions to Iceland. The programme for visitors also features shows, guided tours and nature walks.

Bertheaume, l'ile fortifée - this island, fortified by Vauban, enjoys uninterrupted views over the Iroise sea. Site et musée de l'ancienne abbaye - Landevennec - set in the heart of an outstanding beauty spot, made all the more remarkable by the presence of the remains of a Carolingian cloister, this archaeological site and museum tell the story of the development of a monastic settlement which formed an integral part of Breton history from the 6th to the 18th century. Château des Rohan a Pontivy - built by the powerful Rohan family in the late 15th century, this castle is a typical example of the military architecture at the end of the Middle Ages.
