If Orleans owes a large portion of its fame to Joan of Arc the town still today has many attractions to entice you around its old stone walls. If you are not scared of heights visit the gothic St Cross Cathedral and walk under the flying buttresses. Your eyes will be everywhere in La Source Floral Park Butterfly House during a walk amongst the exotic species, one of many activities to choose from. The Campanaire Bollée Museum will ring bells with the curious while teaching them about all aspects of this unique instrument. You will find amazing relics in the Orlens' Museum of History and Archaeology with its exceptional collection of gallo-roman bronze statues. Charles IX, Henry III and Henry IV stayed at the Groslot Mansion built by the bailiff Groslot in the 16th century, which also merits a visit along with the Fine Arts Museum and its famous Pastels Cabinet.
